Project 3:

Reason: To establish our Company and our Products as legitimate in the Ceramic Industry. There by creating open doors for the products throughout the Industry.
Facts: We established Customers for all of our products and have been running at those plants on a day-to-day basis for up to 3 years. (*all case studies were of one to three years) We have not actively pursued any new customers other than these we have already established over this period. We have concentrated on these plants and how each of our products has performed at those plants. There are 4 case studies in this report.
Goal: To achieve the much-needed “Time In the Field” that seems to be the very fabric of life or death for new companies and products in our Industry!
Overview:
As we began to try and establish Hutch101 as a company in the Ceramic Industry
about 3 years ago. We met with some strong resistance. Though the driving force
behind Hutch101, LC and Clarke, had many years of
experience in the Ceramic Industry (from their days as Manufactures Reps,
peddling everything from car moving equipment to automated handling systems),
they were finding it tough to establish themselves as suppliers and to establish
their products as capable of doing what they were designed to do.
After more than once being told that we needed to go somewhere and run a year, then come back and talk to them (this statement, coming from a potential customer). We decided to do just that! We stopped actively pursuing sales in the Industry and concentrated on establishing our products and ourselves. We established Customers for the products we had and began proving on a day-to-day basis that the products would perform just as they were designed to do. Over the next 3 years the products did perform and we hope that we have performed as well as a company.
The following is the 4 case studies……
Louisville Brick Company – They began using our Die Lube in April of 1999. They are still customers to this day and are very pleased with the product. Mark Mitchell the Plant Manager has provided testimonials for the product and us. They use our Die Lube on a daily basis.
“Over the years we have used several different water based
lubricants in our clay column extrusion process. Both my operator and I agree
that Hutch101 is the best we have used so far.”
Mark Mitchell, Plant Manager, Louisville Brick Co.
Snyder Brick & Tile – They began using our Clay Conditioner (clay additive) in August of 2000. They had a very specific clay problem and were having a hard time even running. They tried Clay Conditioner and were able to run and run well. They are still using the product to this day and are extremely happy with the results and have even found some added bonuses that Clay Conditioner gave them on extended wear life of their equipment. They use Clay Conditioner on a daily basis.
“The Nature of our clay is very high in plasticity, without the use of Hutch101 Clay Conditioner our clay does not turn loose of the augers.”
Jeff Goodger, Plant Manager Snyder Brick & Tile
Boral Bricks /Smyrna-Atlanta – They began using Supur8 Excell (clay additive) in December of 1999. They were looking for a replacement additive to the one they were using. Supur8 Excell provided that for them. They were able to make the use of an additive easier and save many thousands of dollars a year, while keeping the outstanding quality of brick they are accustom to. They are still using the product to this day and are very pleased. They use Supur8 Excell on a daily basis.
Interstate Brick – They began using the product in June of 2001. They had a specific problem and were looking for a product that could fix it for them. They had heard of a type of product in another country and approached us to see if we had or could come up with anything to help them out. We had just created a new product that was very similar to the product they were looking for. They began using it and were very pleased with the results. In the beginning we made some slight changes to the product to better suit them individually and they are still using the product to this day. They use DBH 2000 on a daily basis.
“I was looking for a product similar to one not sold in the USA.
Hutch 101 had developed a similar product and was able to supply us with a
similar product. As we went along we asked for some modifications and they
worked with us on that. Customer support is friendly and questions are
responded to promptly."
John Hewitt, Interstate Brick
These are the customers that have used our products the longest. We have other customers using other products of ours. We are looking forward to getting back into actively pursuing interest in our products in the Ceramic Industry. We feel we have taken the time to prove our products and hopefully have proven ourselves as a reliable supplier of quality products and customer support. In essence Project3 has been a complete success!
